Two orchards, each with about 15 apple, cherry, and plum trees, grace our property. These trees provide food for us, cover for our poultry, forage for our goats, and will flavor our pork that we will finish on apples and hazelnuts. We cook with the fruit wood, infusing our meat with the smoke of the orchard, the flavor or our land. And when the big cherry tree dies, we will mill the log and build something grand, perhaps a dining room table that our grandchildren will eat from.
